RUSafe? App Launched For Domestic Violence Victims

Cassandra from BlackNGold Girls asked fans to share the following video with many people as possible. It is an important message featuring Steelers defensive back William Gay on RUSafe?, a mobile app which offers information and advice to young people experiencing domestic abuse at home or in their own relationships.

The Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh quietly launched the app in January 2014 and it recently became available to the public. RUSafe? was developed by the WC&S through a partnership with Newton Consulting and is an extension of the Pittsburgh’s December implementation of the Maryland Lethality Assessment Program (LAP).

RUSafe? users are asked a series of questions, and then calculates the responses. If there’s cause for concern, the app allows calls to WC&S’ 24-hour hotline or lets users directly contact 911 if they’re in immediate danger.

Please take a few moments to watch this video about the RUSafe? app. It could save lives of many people in domestic violence situations.
