Shortly before 7:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2014, a devastating fire in McKeesport, PA left six people dead from smoke inhalation and one critically injured. The community, which included McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko, came together for a vigil at the fire site Sunday evening.
Cause of the fire has not been determined as of this blog post.
In addition to other fund raisers in the area being planned and an online GoFundMe campaign, 60 percent of all sales on both Kindle and paperback editions of my books now through October 31 will be donated to help families of the mother, children, and grandfather who died in the fire and the father, who remains in critical condition with burns over 55 percent of his body, pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance and get back on his feet. You can view all my books on Amazon at this link.
For those residing in McKeesport’s Upper 10th Ward and Port Vue areas, a donation can can be found at the Uni-Mart at 1181 Romine Ave. in Port Vue. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. I’d like to thank management and employees at the Uni-Mart for accepting one of my collection jars.
Thank you all in advance for your generosity in this time of tragedy.
