Book of the Week 11/3/14

The New Natural Cat: A Complete Guide for Finicky Owners by professional cat groomer and behaviorist Anitra Frazier (Plume; Revised edition, 1990) offers cat owner homeopathic alternatives to traditional (and often expensive) options to maintain the health and well-being of their felines.

This not-so-average “cat care manual” addresses several points such as treatments that can be safely done at home between required vet visits (because our beloved cats still need their shots, for starters), keeping your cat’s coat in optimum condition, behavioral issues, litter box topics, effective scratching post training, neutering/spaying, making organic cat food, and holistic approaches to many familiar feline health problems.

The New Natural Cat explains common problems owners face and the what’s, why’s, and how’s to change for the better (including easy-to-follow illustrations). This is an outstanding book to add to any cat owner’s/lover’s library for future reference; however, it should not be used as a total replacement for regular vet care.
