The Washington City Mission will not be habitable for at least six months after being destroyed by a four-alarm fire June 9.
About 60 men stay at the Mission, but will temporarily be rehoused on the Mission’s lower end using cots donated by the Red Cross.
The shelter also serves meals to homeless and other Washington County residents in need. Its kitchen, chapel, and dining areas were among those destroyed in Tuesday’s fire. Religious services for the Mission’s residents will be held at The Bible Chapel located at 34 West Wheeling Street, Washington, PA.
Donations are being accepted for the Mission’s rebuilding, and could use much help as possible. In-person donations can be dropped off on Friday, June 12 from 10 AM to 6 PM at the following location:
Cricket Wireless Store
80 North Main Street
Washington, PA 15301
Clothing, kitchen items, bottled water, and monetary donations are among items being sought to proceed The Mission.
Thanks in advance to those who plan to donate!
